Coal Grades- G1 to G 17

Posted on February 4, 2024February 15, 2024 By jassyparate8983@gmail.com No Comments on Coal Grades- G1 to G 17

Coal grading for non-coking coal is determined by the Gross Calorific Value (GCV), whereas the grading of coking coal is based on ash content. For semi-coking or weakly coking coal, the classification considers both ash and moisture content, as per the prevailing notification.

Coking Coal Grades:

  • Steel Grade – II: Ash content exceeding 15% but not exceeding 18%
  • Steel Grade – I: Ash content not exceeding 15%
  • Washery Grade – I: Ash content exceeding 18% but not exceeding 21%
  • Washery Grade – II: Ash content exceeding 21% but not exceeding 24%
  • Washery Grade – III: Ash content exceeding 24% but not exceeding 28%
  • Washery Grade – IV: Ash content exceeding 28% but not exceeding 35%
  • Washery Grade – V: Ash content exceeding 35% but not exceeding 42%
  • Washery Grade – VI: Ash content exceeding 42% but not exceeding 49%

Semi-coking and Weakly Coking Coal Grades:

  • Semi Coking Grade – I: Ash + Moisture not exceeding 19%
  • Semi Coking Grade – II: Ash + Moisture exceeding 19% but not exceeding 24%

Non-coking Coal Grades:

  • G-1: Exceeding 7000 kcal/kg
  • G-2: Exceeding 6700 and not exceeding 7000 kcal/kg
  • G-3: Exceeding 6400 and not exceeding 6700 kcal/kg
  • G-4: Exceeding 6100 and not exceeding 6400 kcal/kg
  • G-5: Exceeding 5800 and not exceeding 6100 kcal/kg
  • G-6: Exceeding 5500 and not exceeding 5800 kcal/kg
  • G-7: Exceeding 5200 and not exceeding 5500 kcal/kg
  • G-8: Exceeding 4900 and not exceeding 5200 kcal/kg
  • G-9: Exceeding 4600 and not exceeding 4900 kcal/kg
  • G-10: Exceeding 4300 and not exceeding 4600 kcal/kg
  • G-11: Exceeding 4000 and not exceeding 4300 kcal/kg
  • G-12: Exceeding 3700 and not exceeding 4000 kcal/kg
  • G-13: Exceeding 3400 and not exceeding 3700 kcal/kg
  • G-14: Exceeding 3100 and not exceeding 3400 kcal/kg
  • G-15: Exceeding 2800 and not exceeding 3100 kcal/kg
  • G-16: Exceeding 2500 and not exceeding 2800 kcal/kg
  • G-17: Exceeding 2200 and not exceeding 2500 kcal/kg
